The Adult Education and Literacy Program at Odessa College offers an array of free courses focusing primarily on career advancement, language learning, and life skills. While we frequently add and adjust our catalog of classes to meet the educational needs of our community, we have two primary programs of focus: English as a Second Language (ESL) and High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) preparation.

From there, we will place you in the classes that you need to succeed and our instructors, tutors, and career navigator will work with you to achieve your Educational goal.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes:
Do you want to improve your English? Once you have registered with our ESL program, we will help you identify your level before placing you in a class with other language learners. Our goal is to create a community within each of our classes that makes learning English exciting and fun.
Distance Learning
Distance Learning (DL) courses are designed for people with scheduling problems and busy lifestyles. Instead of attending face-to-face courses, students use the Adult Education and Literacy's DL system to work independently. There are no limits to the total number of courses that can be taken. The courses are module designed for an easy learning platform and GED/HSE completion. Students have the same rights, privileges and obligations as remote/virtual learning students. Distance Learning courses have the same academic demands and rigor as face-to-face courses with assignment deadlines and scheduled time periods for progress testing and GED testing. If you like to work on your own or you want to get through your courses quickly, DL is for you.
