Odessa College Leadership Institute


Over the last ten years, Odessa College has prioritized keeping students in class as the core of our student success efforts. With the understanding that you cannot teach students if they are not in class, we began our student success journey with the development and implementation of the award-winning Drop Rate Improvement Program. This program serves as the foundation for all of our subsequent student success initiatives. By focusing on high engagement strategies that keep students in class, our story has been forever changed.

The Odessa College Leadership Institute will focus on this keystone habit and how it has transformed our college culture and our student success outcomes. The tentative agenda below outlines the sessions for the Institute.

Tuesday, April 20

9:30 – 11:30 - OC Culture, Data, and Outcomes | Odessa College’s All In culture and the data that have led to state and national recognition from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Achieving the Dream, and The Aspen Institute.

1:30 – 3:30 - OC Engagement | Odessa College’s Drop Rate Improvement Program, Drive to Success student engagement program, and OC All In employee engagement program. These high engagement programs are foundational to establishing the culture and student success outcomes Odessa College has achieved.


Wednesday, April 21

9:30 – 11:30 - OC Pathways | Focus on Odessa College’s transition to 8 Week Terms, linear pathways, the shift from meta-majors to schools, and more.

1:30 – 3:30 - OC Innovation | Focus on innovative programs and practices including:
