Today, she stands proudly as a first-generation college graduate, completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Odessa College—just one year after giving birth to her first child.

Graduate Spotlight: Joel Alvidrez Turns Ambition into Accomplishment
Being on the Odessa College campus gave Joel a chance to explore new interests and find places where he felt at home. One of those places was the Fab Lab. He discovered it during his first year at OCA, and it immediately sparked something in him. “There I could make things that I wanted to create,” he said. “Using the equipment in the Fab Lab allowed me to do more with my creative and artistic skills and to make my designs.”

In Spring 2024, she completed her Associate of General Studies. In Fall 2024, she added an Associate in Entrepreneurship. And now, in Spring 2025, she graduates with her ExxonMobil Bachelor’s Degree in Entrepreneurship from Odessa College.
