Foundation Scholarships

All students are invited to apply for the following Foundation scholarships. All applicants will be evaluated by criteria set by donors and must be upheld to retain the award. Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis and on the availability of funds each academic semester. You must complete an application each semester. Only complete applications will be considered. 

*Scholarship eligibility depends on GPA, Financial Need, and Major. Please note that visiting students do not qualify for scholarships. You must have a major selected with Odessa College.

Scholarships & Requirements


A.C. "Johnny" and Melba Bassett Endowment

  • ECISD graduate
  • 2.0 GPA.
  • Award depends on available funds.
  • Award pays tuition, fees and/ or required books.

ABWA Howdy Partner

  • Education or Business majors
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA

Ace G. and Bertha L. Doran Endowed Scholarship

  • Outstanding Health Studies major interested in an Allied Health or Medical Technology field or any medical field; also, an outstanding student in pre-medical studies can be considered.
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Must have recommendation by the chair of the department
  • Full-Time enrollment
  • Pays full tuition, fees, and books.

Allied Health Title V Scholarship

  • Students must be seeking a degree or certificate in an Allied Health field - RN, LVN, or EMSP.
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 2.5 GPA.
  • Class attendance and GPA eligibility must be maintained and courses must be completed each semester of the award.
  • 6 credit hours

Ann and Vincent Becker Endow "Apply Yourself More" Scholarship

  • ECISD or MISD graduate
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Full or Part time students
  • May be used for tuition, fees and books;
  • Recipients must submit to a drug test (at the student’s expense) and be subject to random tests during the duration of this award;
  • 10 hours of community/leadership service required each semester of award.

Becker Educators Endowment

  • Education major
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Enrolled full or Part-time
  • ECISD graduate
  • Drug testing required.
  • Full-time students must complete 13 hours of community service in Education.
  • Part-time students must complete 10 hours of community service in Education.
  • Award pays tuition, fees and 1/2 of required books as interest funds are available

Ben and Ruth Florey Endowment

  • Only for students who do not qualify for the Pell Grant
  • Full or part time students.
  • ECISD graduate.
  • Must complete all courses for the semester.  
  • Award pays for tuition, fees, and/or required books. 

Bill and Sharon Lipham Endowment

  • No student athletes
  • 2.5 GPA must be maintained for the duration of the semester.
  • High school graduate of OC service area.
  • Full time, 12+ hours.
  • Goal of graduating with an Associate’s degree
  • Award for tuition, books, and fees 

Brandon Borchert Art Endowment

  • Candidates will be recommended by Art instructor
  • High school graduate with freshman or sophomore status,
  • Art major
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Full or Part-time
  • Must complete all courses enrolled.
  • Award pays tuition, fees, and/or required books.

Chevron Instrumentation Scholarship

  • MUST BE APPROVED BY DEPARTMENT CHAIR
  • Awarded to Instrumentation Majors or those seeking a certificate in Instrumentation
  • GPA of 2.5 overall and 3.0 in instrumentation courses

Chloe Shinn Memorial Scholarship Endowment

  • Associate's Degree in Education
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Full or Part-time enrollment

Clara Hazel Freel Endowment

  • 3.0 GPA
  • Full or Part-time and complete ALL hours during the semester
  • Award pays tuition, fees and required books as interest funds are available

Cress and Pauline Steele Scholarship

  • Full time student
  • 2.5 GPA
  • All courses registered for must be completed each semester

Department of English and Foreign Languages Majors Scholarship

  • English and Spanish Majors
  • Must have the equivalent of a High School Diploma
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Full time - 12+ Hrs.
  • Must be enrolled in a course in your major
  • Provide proof of involvement in community service. 

Dr. Ashok Khosla Endowment

  • Science or English majors (physics majors will receive preference)
  • Must complete a minimum of 9 hours at OC or have instructor's consent
  • Must be currently enrolled in a course in the required major
  • 3.0 GPA in the major courses and overall GPA of 3.3
  • RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE OFFICE OF ARTS DEAN.

Dr. Edwin Rathbun Nursing Endowment

  • High school graduate
  • Freshman or Sophomore accepted into Nursing program from Iraan
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Full time status
  • 12 hours must be completed each semester
  • Must complete 15 hours of community service in Iraan and/or
  • Sheffield Health Facilities;
  • Award pays tuition, fees, and/or required books.

Dr. Roy Hart Endowed Scholarship

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • 2.5 GPA which must be maintained for the duration of the award
  • Must be seeking an Associate's Degree
  • Class attendance and GPA eligibility must be maintained and courses must be completed during each semester of the award.
  • Full or Part-time enrollment status
  • Award to be used for tuition, fees and books

Dwain Handley Scholarship Fund for Sewell Auto Tech

  • Associate’s Degree with Certificate in Auto Technology
  • Minimum 2.5 Grade Point Average (GPA) or qualified first time students
  • 3.0 GPA or above for next semester eligibility
  • The most immediate prior semester determines your eligibility for scholarship
  • 100% Tuition & Fees The following semester, if the overall GPA for the prior semester is 4.0
  • If the GPA is between 3.0 & 3.9, the reimbursement is at 50% of the total tuition & fees.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 9 hours per semester
  • Applicant must be approved by The Sewell Family of Companies.
  • Scholarship will be used for tuition, fees, & books.
  • Recipients may receive other aid
  • Student will participate in 10 hours per semester of community
  • Service and provide such evidence prior to receipt of for next semester.
  • Approved driving record, negative drug test results at time of application.
  • Subject to random drug testing as long as they are enrolled in the program and in receipt of funds from The Sewell Family of Companies
  • Will read one book per semester on leadership, teamwork, or culture as prescribed by Odessa College Sewell Auto Tech and create a report outlining the lessons learned and how they apply to a career.
  • Attendance must be 90% or greater in order to be eligible.
  • Students should wear appropriate attire and/or uniforms when needed

ECISD Education Foundation

  • ECISD graduates
  • 2.5 GPA but must have a 3.0 at the end of the semester to receive scholarship next semester
  • Must enroll AND complete a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester
  • Must complete all attempted courses during the awarded semester
  • Must volunteer in a classroom five (5) hours a week during a semester (total of 40 hours) VIPS approved
  • Must volunteer at the annual Education Foundation fundraiser
  • Award depends on enrollment status
  • Once awarded student must sign off on a student agreement pledging to transfer into the School of Education at UTPB or into the Tech Teach program at Texas Tech University.

Ector County Employee Scholarship

  • Work for Ector county (provide a letter from Ector County Human Resources)

Energy Industrial Scholarship

  • Electrical, Electronics, OSHA, Welding, Automotive or Diesel Technology Major or pursuing a Certification
  • GPA 2.5 overall (including academic and technical courses) with a 3.0 in technical courses.
  • MUST BE APPROVED BY DEPARTMENT CHAIR
  • Scholarship will be used for Tuition, Fees, and Books or Kits from OC Bookstore

Ethel Ward Endowment

  • OC Choir students
  • Enrolled full-time
  • GPA of 3.0
  • Must be enrolled in the appropriate choir classes
  • Performance based award

Fasken Fire Tech Scholarship

  • Degree or certification in Fire Technology
  • 2.5 GPA with successful completion in all courses
  • Students will be selected based on the recommendation of the Fire Technology Department Chair

George and Marijon Brewer "All It Takes Is Money" Memorial Scholarship

  • Pursuing a degree in Mathematics and/or Science related field to include Nursing and other medical related majors
  • Enrolled in 9 credit hours per semester of award
  • 3.0 GPA required
  • Must take at least one mathematics course or one science course (such as Geology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy/Physiology, or Computer Science) each semester of the award
  • Student must be a citizen of the United States
  • Pays towards tuition, fees, and books

Gilmour Endowment

  • Business Administration Major, preferably Accountant students
  • Graduate of PHS or OHS or from the OC service area
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Full or part-time student

Glen T. Hunt Scholarship

  • Business Administration, Leadership, or Small Business Management Students
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Part or Full-time enrollment
  • May be used for tuition, fees, and books 

Gordon Gillette Scholarship

  • Single parent and a West Texas resident
  • Student must fill out a FAFSA or TAFSA application
  • 2.5 GPA
  • Enroll in at least 6 credit hours

Gwendolyn Shiever Memorial Endowment

  • 2.7 GPA
  • Full or Part time
  • Class attendance and GPA must be maintained and courses must be completed during each semester of the award

H.L. & Marie Mangrum Endowment

  • 3.0 GPA
  • 12 hours per semester

Half-Century Endowment

  • 3.0 GPA
  • Full or Part-time
  • complete ALL hours during the semester
  • Award depends on enrollment status
  • Award pays for tuition, fees and required books

Hazel Rich Endowment

  • Music Major
  • Student selected by the Music Faculty
  • Performance based
  • May be used for tuition, fees, and books

Health Sciences

  • Full or part-time students accepted into Health Science fields
  • 2.7 GPA
  • Award depends on enrollment status

H-E-B Culinary Arts Scholarship

  • Degree or certificate in Culinary Arts
  • 3.0 GPA
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Class attendance and GPA eligibility must be maintained and courses must be completed during each semester of the award
  • 6 credit hours minimum enrollment is required
  • Award to be used for tuition, fees, and books 

Isabel Rea Endowment

  • Music students
  • Full or Part-time
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Music faculty will recommend recipients for selection.
  • Award pays tuition, fees, and/or required books

Jack and Ruth Rodgers Endowment

  • Recipients MUST NOT BE RECEIVING State or Federal aid
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Full or Part time
  • ECISD Graduate
  • 13 hours of community service is required.

Jim and Marilyn Morris Endowment

  • Men/Women's Basketball and or Golf
  • Sophomore who has completed at least 30 hours
  • 3.0 GPA
  • 1st generation student
  • Recommendations will come from the Basketball/Golf Coach

Jim Watkins Rodeo Scholarship Endowment

  • Students must be accepted into the Varsity Rodeo Program at OC
  • Students must be in good standing with OC or last school attended
  • 2.5 GPA
  • Class attendance and GPA eligibility must be maintained and courses must be completed during each semester of the award
  • Full time enrollment per semester

Jimmy Russell Scholarship

  • Golf Athlete with approval from OC Athletic Director
  • Full time enrollment
  • 2.5 GPA

Jordan Squyres Scholarship Endowment

  • Full or part-time student
  • 2.5 GPA
  • Award pays towards tuition, fees and/or books

JVR Science and Math Scholarship

  • Math or Science Major students
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • 9 credit hour minimum enrollment requirement
  • May be used for tuition and fees
  • High School Graduate
  • Must take at least ONE science course (Geology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Computer Science) and ONE Math or CIS course each semester of the award

Kirk Edwards Family Scholarship

  • Engineering Degree (STEM)
  • Graduate of Ector County or OC Service area
  • Minimum of 2.5 GPA
  • Class attendance and minimum GPA of 2.5 must be maintained for duration of award

L.M. Adair Scholarship

  • Student must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours
  • 2.5 GPA

Leland Croft Memorial Scholarship

  • Student must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours
  • 3.25 GPA 

Louise Wood Endowed Scholarship

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 3.0 GPA which must be maintained for the duration of the award
  • Must be seeking an Associate's Degree
  • Class attendance and GPA eligibility must be maintained and courses must be completed during each semester of the award.
  • Full-time enrollment status per semester is required.
  • Award to be used for tuition, fees and books

M.S. Doss Endowment

  • Student must be from high schools located in Western Texas anywhere WEST of a line drawn between Wichita Falls, Texas and Laredo, Texas or a high school located in Southeastern New Mexico.
  • Full or Part time student
  • Associate's degree
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Award depends on available funds
  • Award pays tuition, fees and required books

Manufacturing Technology Scholarship

  • Associate’s Degree or Certificate in Machine or Welding Technology.
  • Candidate must be enrolled Machine or Welding technology, first preference given to Machine Technology students
  • Full or part-time enrollment
  • GPA 2.5 or qualified first time students
  • Applicant must be approved by the program department chair;
  • Student MUST write a thank you note to donor within 30 days after the first day class, failure to do so will result in the loss of this scholarship award.
  • Scholarship will be used for tuition, fees, and books

Memorial Scholarship Endowment

  • Traditional and non-traditional
  • 2.5 GPA
  • Courses must be completed during each semester of the award
  • Must complete 10 hours of community service
  • Full or part-time students

Midland Odessa Business & Estate Council Scholarship (MOBEC)

  • Associate's degree in a business related field, with a preference being in accounting or finance, and/or transferring to a four year university to complete a Bachelor's degree
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Completion of at least 30 credit hours
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours
  • Must be able to attend a council lunch to be determined by MOBEC.

Modern Gardeners Nursing Endowment

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • Must be accepted into the OC Nursing program
  • 2.75 GPA
  • All classes must be completed successfully and attendance maintained each semester 

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Rochester Endowment

  • Graduate of Odessa High or Permian High School, Career Center in Ector County or graduate of OC service area
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Full or Part-time
  • Award pays for tuition, fees, and/ or required books

OC Andrews Scholarship Fund

  • The applicant must be a current resident of Andrews County (6 months) or a graduate of Andrews High School, Andrews Education Center, Andrews Adult Literacy Program (G.E.D.), or Andrews Home School program;
  • Scholarship funding will only be used for courses/programs offered only through the Andrews Business and Technology Center; One class must be a face to face or hybrid class at the Andrew Tech Center.
  • The remaining classes may be online course
  • 2.5 GPA
  • 5 hours of community service
  • 6 credit hours per semester

Odessa Rotary Scholarship for Children of Peace Officers

  • Child, current step child or grandchild of a currently employed full time peace officer working for an agency in Ector County
  • Student must be under the age of 30.
  • 2.5 GPA
  • Established degree plan and enrolled in classes necessary for such degree
  • Awarded student must be willing to attend 1 Rotary meeting each 8 weeks and participate in one Rotary club service project.

PBWDB Child Care Scholarship

The purpose of the scholarships is improve the quality of child care offered in the facilities serving the Permian Basin. PBWDB believes trained/skilled caregivers can have the greatest impact on the care provided to our children. Quality child care has a long-term impact on the lives of children and positively impacts society by reducing the dropout rates and incarnation rates, and children are less likely to repeat a grade.

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP

  • Must be employed by a child care facility participating in the Board’s child care management services program as verified by the Board or the Board’s child care contractor for at least 30 hours per week at less than $15 per hour;
  • Be 18 years of age or older;
  • Be a Texas resident; and
  • Be a U.S. citizen or a noncitizen authorized to work in the United States.
  • 3.0 GPA maintained during duration of scholarship

Pre-Engineering Title V Scholarship

  • Pre-engineering
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Class attendance and GPA eligibility must be maintained and courses must be completed during each semester of the award\
  • 6 credit hours minimum enrollment status per semester is required.

Red Pixel Marketing Hispanic Student Scholarship

  • 1 Male and 1 Female student
  • Hispanic
  • No GPA requirement

Richard C. Abalos Endowed Scholarship Endowed by MASC

  • High School Graduate or Non-traditional students
  • 2.25 GPA

Rudy Acosta Endowed Scholarship

  • Designated to students who do not receive other aid

Russell K. and Maureen Doran Endowed Scholarship

  • Designated Student: Outstanding Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) major interested in medicine and/or related field(s)
  • High School Graduate or non-traditional student
  • Must maintain 3.0 GPA
  • Declared major in a STEM field of study
  • Student must be recommended by the chair of the department.
  • Full-time enrollment
  • Pays for tuition, books and fees

Student Success Scholarship

  • 2.5 GPA
  • Full or Part-time and complete ALL hours during the semester
  • Award depends on enrollment status:
  • 10 hours of COMMUNITY SERVICE

Student Veterans Organization Scholarship

  • Veteran, Spouse, or Child (documentation required DD-214 and birth certificate or marriage license)
  • Be an active SVO member for previous semester
  • 2.5 GPA
  • Cannot be utilizing any VA Education Benefits (except Chapter 35 DEA and Hazelwood) SVO officers and VA Coordinator to determine the individual

Texas Scholars

  • Only available for Texas Scholars students through ECISD
  • Grow Odessa scholarship.
  • $500 per semester, awarded annually
  • Students are to bring Texas Scholars completion certificate to the Foundation office 

Thomas and Sarah Crawford Nursing Scholarship

  • This is a competitive scholarship for a well-qualified student accepted to the RN program
  • AP 1 & 2 must have been successfully completed at Odessa College
  • Full or Part-time

Trigger Vance Phillips Scholarship

  • 12 credit hours
  • 3.0 GPA 

Troy Doelling Endowment

  • Outstanding EMT/Paramedic student
  • Tuition, Fees, and books

Wayne and Jo Ann Moore Scholarship for Criminal Justice

  • Criminal Justice major or certificate students
  • 2.5 GPA

Wells Fargo OC Honors Scholarship

  • High school graduate or non-traditional student
  • Associate’s degree in Education
  • 3.0 GPA which must be maintained for the duration of the award

Wendy Hines Aspiring Educator Scholarship Fund

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 2.5 GPA.
  • Education Major Associate's Degree
  • Class attendance and GPA eligibility must be maintained and courses must be completed during each semester of the award

Wood's Boots Rodeo Endowment

  • High school graduate
  • Freshman or Sophomore status
  • New and/or Returning students for Wrangler Rodeo Team.
  • 2.0 GPA must be maintained
