Odessa College Law Enforcement Training Academy (OCLETA):

OCLETA is located in the Electronics Technology Building on Odessa College campus. We strive for excellence in training and education while supporting police and sheriff's offices in the Permian Basin. We are industry leaders by offering inventive, affordable courses in law enforcement, courts systems, and corrections.

Basic Peace Officer Training (BPOC):

The Basic Peace Officer Course prepares individuals to become certified in the law enforcement profession in Texas. Our training academy exceeds the required number of hours currently required by the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement (TCOLE). After successful completion of the academy, individuals will sit for the Basic Peace Officer license state exam. A 70% or higher on the state exam would qualify our academy graduates to work for any department in the state. Our instructors are diverse practitioners and experts in various fields relating to criminal justice.

Academy Schedule:

Part-time: Mon-Fri 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Basic Peace Officer Course Application Information:

Our application process is extensive and requires the candidate to submit to fingerprinting, physical and psychological exams, background investigation, and an interview with the academy's staff and advisory board.

Continuing Education Classes for Law Enforcement Training (TCOLE Classes)

We are dedicated to providing continuing education to current Law Enforcement Officers; Criminal Justice Practitioners, Social Service Related Organizations, and Education Practitioners. If your department requires specific training not listed on our schedule, please contact us.

Special Instructions:

Attendee must bring their PID # to receive TCOLE credit for the course. To promote a professional environment, Odessa College requires proper business casual attire. No meals provided with training.

Odessa College LETA reserves the right to cancel a class that does not meet the minimum number of registered attendees at least seven business days before the class start date. In those circumstances, OC-LETA will provide a full refund. Students who wish to cancel their registration must cancel online via email or notify OC at least seven business days prior to the course date in order to receive a refund. There will be a $10 administrative fee for processing the refund.

"No shows" and student cancellations made less than seven business days prior to the start of class may be charged the full course fee. Partial attendance will not be permitted.
