VISION 2030+ UPDATE – JAMES SEGREST STADIUM | February 8, 2024 – Construction of the new James Segrest Stadium is complete and we look forward to providing our students and student-athletes, Sports Center members, and our community with a premier sports and fitness destination. Odessa College Sports Center members will have limited, scheduled access to James Segrest Stadium. In order to maintain the highest, collegiate, competition standards, the track and field will not be open to the public for daily walking, recreation and fitness. The college looks forward to hosting events and activities for the entire community to enjoy and will use this facility in partnership with local sports entities and associations to cultivate future athletes. Monthly programming includes First Saturday at James Segrest Stadium. First Saturday begins March 2, 2024, from 8 am until noon, and includes the following: 

  • 8 am – 9 am      Free walk and run
  • 9 am – 11 am    First Saturday Programming
  • 11 am - noon     Free walk and run

Adjacent to the stadium, Odessa College in conjunction with the National Fitness Council and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, has installed a new Fitness Court – the world’s best outdoor gym.  The Fitness Court is open to the public, 5 am until 10 pm daily, and is designed to provide a full body workout in only seven minutes. We encourage you to take advantage of our lighted, Wrangler Trails or the indoor track at the Odessa College Sports Center. FACILITY RENTALS

The facility will be available for sanctioned, controlled, competition rentals beginning in April 2024. We appreciate your patience as we hire and train personnel; finalize Wrangler athletic practice and competition schedules; and develop guidelines for facility usage and rentals. VISION 2030+ UPDATE – JAMES SEGREST STADIUM | March 21, 2023 – Odessa College is pleased to announce that the James Segrest Stadium will open in the Fall of 2023. Construction is underway and we look forward to providing our students, the Sports Center members, and our community with a premier sports and fitness destination. The stadium complex will include: 

  • a grand entrance with box office concessions and restrooms;
  • a state of the art, lighted track and field;
  • terraced seating and picnic areas;
  • grandstands on the east and west sides of the field;
  • a press box; and
  • a multimedia scoreboard.

Adjacent to the stadium, Odessa College in conjunction with the National Fitness Council and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, will build a new Fitness Court – the world’s best outdoor gym.  The Fitness Court will be open to the public and is designed to provide a full body workout in only seven minutes.

At this time, James Segrest Stadium remains closed to the public and to campus programming. During construction, the Sports Center will be open; however, parking may be limited. We apologize for the inconvenience. The college will publish guidelines for usage and facility rental this summer. In the meantime, we encourage you to take advantage of our lighted, Wrangler Trails or the indoor track at the Odessa College Sports Center. VISION 2030+ UPDATE | February 20, 2023 – Vision 2030+ at Odessa College is moving forward! Overnight, contractors poured the concrete for the foundation of the new Wood Health Sciences Building. Soon, you will begin to see the structure going vertical – building a state-of-the-art space to train future health care providers. Anticipated opening of the Wood Health Sciences Building is Fall of 2024.

ODESSA COLLEGE VISION 2030+ – For over 70 years, Odessa College has offered a varied and extensive number of educational programs designed to meet the needs and dreams of its students. We now have the opportunity to expand and enhance the ways we deliver instruction and educational support. Our goal is to offer instruction and instructional support that is as good as, if not better than, any college in the United States. Philanthropy will enable the community and philanthropic leaders to continue to invest in the College to strengthen the communities and students we serve. Odessa College is committed to investing $75 million for campus improvements.


The college anticipates transitioning to phase two (2) before the end of this year. Phase two (2) will include:

  • construction of stadium public entrance;
  • installation of permanent fencing, bleachers, scoreboard and lighting;
  • general improvements to the grounds;
  • landscaping;
  • terraced seating; and
  • picnic areas.  

At this time, James Segrest Stadium remains closed to the public and to campus programming. Community walkers are encouraged to take advantage of Wrangler Trails or the indoor track at the Odessa College Sports Center.
