Articulation Agreements
Articulation agreements are set up between Odessa College and partner universities to provide students with guaranteed acceptance of certain agreed upon courses as well as help smooth the process for transferring to a university. These agreements also may provide students with guaranteed acceptance into the university or a specific program, access to university materials, events, or facilities, or scholarships. We strive to provide our students with as many options and opportunities as possible.

We advise that students begin applying to transfer institutions the year before you intend to transfer. If you are planning to apply to particularly popular majors you should apply as early as you can, when the institution first begins to accept early applications.
If you are a Texas resident and would like to apply to a large number of schools you can take advantage of Free College Application Week from October 13 to October 19. There is no limit to how many schools you can apply to during this week. Once again, if you are planning to apply to a program that fills up quickly we recommend that you apply BEFORE Free College Application Week to give yourself the best opportunity for admission and financial aid. Free College Application Week is administered through ApplyTexas.org.
University Schedule
University recruiters and advisors come to our campus throughout the year to answer questions regarding admissions requirements, course transfer guidelines, programs available, and other requirements. Check the calendar below for a list of events.
Transfer Checklist
Request your transcript: An electronic or unofficial transcript will work to provide to advisors about credit transferability, to complete the transfer process you will need an official version of your transcript
Application deadline: Do you know when your destination university opens their application period? Applying early increases your chance to receive financial aid.
GPA requirements: Different schools, and sometimes different programs at that school, have specific GPA requirements to transfer. Make sure you know what your GPA needs to be to qualify for transfer.
Course transfer equivalency: While many schools offer transfer calculators and other resources the best way to guarantee how your credits will transfer is to speak to admissions or advising representatives from your destination school. Make contact with them early in the process so you don't take classes that won't transfer effectively, including limits on how many credit hours your destination school will accept.
Campus Visit: If you are wanting to commit to moving to another city to pursue your degree you want to make sure you have been to the campus. Schools offer special "Transfer Day" events filled with activities and information sessions on everything you need to know from housing options, campus amenities, student organizations and more. We take trips to campuses every semester but they fill up quick! The transfer email list is a great way to keep up to date on these trips.
Reverse Transfer
Although it is highly recommended that you complete your associate degree, there are times that transferring may be your best plan. Academic credits for course work completed at a university are transferred back to OC to satisfy the associate degree requirements. Courses you have completed at a university are applied to both the associate and baccalaureate degrees. You must be a former OC student and must meet the OC resident credit requirements.
Residency Credit Requirement:
Option 1: Complete a minimum of 25% of the semester credit hours required for the degree, excluding developmental or awarded credits, at Odessa College.
Option 2: Complete a minimum of 18 semester credit hours, excluding developmental or awarded credits, at Odessa College; at least 12 of which must be the last hours taken before the degree is granted; and, if the degree is in a career, technical or workforce education program, complete at least 12 semester hours in the major field at Odessa College.
