The Office Administration program is designed to provide students with intensive training in up-to-date technological skills for immediate employment in the business or financial office.
The Office Administration Associate in Applied Science degree is also offered with an emphasis in bookkeeping. This degree provides students with a broad knowledge of office procedures, computer applications, and other in-demand skills. Students may also earn Level 1 certificates in their emphasis of choice.
Students who enter the Office Administration program will have the opportunity to choose from two professional paths: General Office Administration or Bookkeeping. Students will learn how to update and maintain database systems, demonstrate customer service skills, complete basic accounting tasks, and use various office software necessary for the successful administration of office duties.
Completion of this program will allow students to apply for entry-level positions as administrative assistants, office assistants, office managers, office clerks, and bookkeeping clerks. ONet Online lists these administrative occupations as ‘Bright Outlook’ occupations and employment positions for these occupations are expected to grow rapidly in the next several years. Office and administrative support, bookkeepers, executive secretaries, administrative assistants, and medical secretaries are listed on the Texas Workforce Commission’s targeted occupations list for the Permian Basin Region.
