The Marketing and Communications Department is the official voice of Odessa College. We promote the College’s mission, programs, and initiatives through strategic branding and messaging that reaches students, employees, media, and the broader community.
Our team of professionals leads efforts in advertising, media relations, social media, storytelling, market research, and brand identity—ensuring that all communication is timely, accurate, and aligned with OC’s strategic priorities.
What We Do
The Odessa College Marketing and Communications team oversees both internal and external communications and marketing strategies to reach a wide range of audiences, including current and prospective students, faculty and staff, local residents, businesses, and the broader communities we serve. We develop and manage the College’s annual marketing campaigns along with hundreds of additional projects that support departments, programs, and individuals across campus.
The Marketing and Communications Department’s daily tasks include, but are not limited to:
Marketing Campaigns
We create academic publications and promotional materials that support the marketing needs of campus departments and divisions.
Graphic Design
We design a wide range of print and digital materials, including:
- Flyers
- Posters
- Brochures
- Postcards
- Logos
- Signs
- Banners
- Magazine
- Digital graphics for campus TV screens
- Stickers
- Window clings
Video and Photo Production
We produce and edit video and photo content for print, digital, and social media. This includes:
- Video and photography for promotions and events
- TV and radio commercial production
- Photography for marketing materials
Website
We manage and maintain the Odessa College website, including:
- Creating and updating webpages
- Support the Academic Calendars
Communications
We coordinate internal and external communication efforts, including:
- News releases and media outreach
- Media interviews and coverage requests
- Social media content and management
Media Relations
All media contacts and/or requests for information, interviews, statements or comments are handled by the Media Relations Office of the Marketing and Communications Department. OC administration, faculty, staff or students who are contacted by the media should refer the individual(s) initiating the contact to the Media Relations Office by phone at 432.335.6416 or by email at news@odessa.edu.
This policy is not intended to restrict or impede media access, but rather to enhance the quality of media access and communications by:
- preventing confusion regarding media contact procedures and priorities
- avoiding the possible dissemination of inaccurate or prematurely released information
- facilitating scheduling of media contacts with the best possible source(s) of information
- minimizing distractions that might impact OC students' learning processes
- preserving the privacy of our students (many of whom are minors, such as our high school dual credit students and the 9th grade students who will be on campus all day starting in 2015, as the inaugural freshman class of the Odessa Career Technical Early College High School (OC TECHS).
Odessa College makes every effort both to respond to the requests of media representatives in a timely manner and to provide reasonable access to Odessa College faculty and staff. We strive to maintain open, candid and professional communications with our media partners, remaining always mindful of the best interests of the community we serve and of which we are so proud to be a part.
Request Support
To request marketing support, please complete the Creative Services Request form. Once submitted, a team member may contact you to ask for clarification, additional information, or schedule a creative consultation meeting to better understand your goals and needs.
We recommend submitting your request at least six weeks in advance (especially for projects connected to events or deadlines) to allow sufficient time for planning, research, content development, design, revisions, and promotion. Our standard goal is to begin promoting events at least two weeks prior to their start date.
