Visiting Artists Exhibit opens at Odessa College

Two for the Show Exhibit

TWO FOR THE SHOW: Artwork by Ellie and Lynwood Kreneck, a visiting artists’ exhibit, is currently on display at the Odessa College Phillips Goff Gallery in Sedate Hall. 

The exhibition can be viewed during regular gallery hours from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Friday until the closing reception scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday, October 14 in the Phillips Goff Gallery. The reception will feature the artists speaking about their work.

Lynwood Kreneck is a professor emeritus at Texas Tech University where he was the founder and director of Colorprint USA, a national print exhibition. He has served as a visiting artist at more than 80 universities in the U.S. and abroad and his art has been included in over 200 national and international exhibitions. He has taught and demonstrated the results of his research in waterbase screenprinting at more than 50 colleges in the U.S., Belgium, China, Germany, Ireland, and New Zealand. His art is represented in 10 books and is currently housed in over 60 museum and university collections. In 2006, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Teaching Printmaking at the Southern Graphics International Conference. In 2015, he received a top prize in the Society of American Graphic Artists centennial exhibition at the Art Students League in New York City.      

A native of New York, Ellie Kreneck has served as an instructor in art and art history at Texas Tech University, co-curator of the National Invitational Quilt Show at the Lubbock Fine Arts Center, and chair of the Public Programs Committee for the Museum Association of Texas Tech University. Her quilting art has been featured in more than a dozen books, journals and catalogs, and she has presented her art at more than 50 exhibitions, shows and contests in the U.S., Canada and England. Her work is currently housed in the White House Ornament Collection in Washington, D.C. and in the Museum of Texas Tech University. The Krenecks currently run Kreneck Studios in Lubbock, TX.
