Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

Odessa College President, Gregory D. Williams, released the following statement in response to Hurricane Harvey, and calls on the Odessa College family to come together in support of our friends, family and colleagues along the Texas Coast, in Houston and in southeast Texas who have been impacted by the devastating storm:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and communities experiencing loss and devastation from the effects of Hurricane Harvey. I encourage the Odessa College family to come together and support Texas during this difficult time.”

Disaster relief stations have been setup around campus – thank you human resources and student activities! Please use these bins to donate supplies from the list below.

For those of you interested in making monetary donations, Odessa College is joining a statewide consortium to launch Harvey H.E.L.P – higher education learning pathway. This initiative is designed to provide support and assistance directly to students whose learning pathway has been impacted by the devastating storm. We know that students leave the learning pathway because of life and logistics challenges, and we also know that emergency aid works. By establishing a universal GoFundMe account coordinated by TACC, Communities Foundations of Texas, THECB, Gates Foundation and other funders, we can create a corpus of resources that that can be distributed directly to students.  Please stay tuned and be patient as this process develops.

Thank you for supporting Texans in a way that represents you best!

The Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management is coordinating collection of relief items for the residents affected by the storm, and we are working with our fellow West Texas community colleges on a plan to get monetary assistance to our southern neighbors.
