The Strong Start Scholarship is available to ALL new Odessa College students who are Ector County residents and high school graduates, regardless of prior dual credit or summer registration status. Click HERE for FAQ.

Strong Start: Frequently Asked Questions

The Strong Start Scholarship is available to ALL new Odessa College students who are Ector County residents and high school graduates, regardless of prior dual credit or summer registration status. Students who received the First Class Free Scholarship in the summer or the First 6 Free Dual Credit Scholarship in high school will qualify for the Strong Start Scholarship –– their first two fall classes will be free, provided they register before July 31st.

  • If I already registered for Summer courses, did I miss out on Strong Start Scholarship?
    • You have not missed out! Students who received the First Class Free this summer or the First 6 Free in high school will qualify for the Strong Start Scholarship. Remember, you must live in Ector County and you need to register before July 31st.
  • What if I took Dual Credit courses with Odessa College during high school? Do I qualify for the Strong Start Scholarship?
    • Yes, you are still eligible to receive the Strong Start Scholarship!
  • If I attended Odessa College several years ago, am I eligible for the Strong Start Scholarship?
    • This program is only for new Odessa College students who reside in Ector County.
  • What if I already receive Financial Aid benefits? Will I qualify for the Strong Start Scholarship?
    • Yes, you will receive the Strong Start Scholarship regardless of financial aid benefits.
  • What if I want to complete a program through Continuing Education/Workforce Training, do I qualify for the Strong Start Scholarship?
    • No, the Strong Start Scholarship is for students enrolled in degree and certificate programs.
  • If I live in Kermit, Pecos, Andrews, do I qualify for the Strong Start program?
    • This opportunity is only available to students living in Ector County; however, you will still qualify for the First Class Free Scholarship.
  • How much is the Strong Start Scholarship?
    • The value of the Strong Start Scholarship is approximately $570!
  • What if I am not ready to register for classes just yet?
    • Act quickly! You must register before July 31st to take advantage of the Strong Start Scholarship.
