About the Leadership Institute Conference

Thank you for your interest in attending Odessa College’s third, annual Leadership Institute on implementing proven High Impact Strategies for improving student success.

The high impact strategies and the student success, including equity, that has resulted from them have led to several national and state awards from the Aspen Institute, Achieving the Dream and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. More important, however, is that all colleges that have implemented one or more of these high impact strategies have seen a positive impact on student success.

The aim of the Leadership Institute is to provide practical and useful information that college leadership can use in implementing high impact strategies within the context of your college’s culture and resources.

Specifically, your team will learn:

  • How to create and sustain a campus-wide culture of transformation leading to improved student outcomes in both face-to-face and online programs
  • How to bring programs to scale so that they help all students including those in developmental education and first-time-in-college students
  • How to engage all stakeholders including administration, staff, faculty, Board of Trustees and key community members in supporting and sustaining initiatives that improve student success
  • How to develop affordable action plans for implementation and customization of High Impact Strategies and Programs.
  • High Impact Strategies for increasing and sustaining enrollment
  • High Impact Strategies for increasing and sustaining Student Class Completion in one semester
  • High Impact Strategies for increasing and sustaining Student Success (“C” or better)
  • High Impact Strategies for improving and sustaining Student Learning Outcomes
  • High Impact Strategies for increasing and sustaining Student Persistence term-to-term
  • What the collective impact these Strategies can have on increasing degree and certificate attainment for all traditional and non-traditional students, full- and part-time students, students of differing ethnicities and genders and socio-economically disadvantaged students.

The Leadership Institute evolved, in part, from the encouragement of education leaders both nationally and in Texas to share our story. We are also indebted to the many colleges in several states that have already adopted or begun to adopt our high impact strategies and in virtually every instance found measurable improvement in student achievement within a single semester.
