The Odessa CollegeNOW Dual Credit Academy team held the first “Dual Credit Awakens” Luncheon this past Thursday, March 24th in the Joe Zant Room of the Saulsbury Campus Center.
Based upon a popular “Star Wars” theme, the luncheon was conceived to serve two purposes: first, as an opportunity to share some of the new developments and recent achievements of Odessa College with invited ISD partners from across our service area; and second, to provide a platform to share with those same partners the OC CollegeNOW vision that any student can earn a post-secondary credential by the time he or she graduates from high school.
Areas of special emphasis included the opportunities for high school students to pursue a Level 1 certificate, become general college core complete, or even earn an entire Associate’s Degree by the time they reach graduation. Several students who are active in the Dual Credit and OC TECHS programs addressed the group, eloquently articulating the benefits which they have realized by their participation in their respective programs. The message was well-received by the various ISD partners in attendance, and many expressed their determination to either initiate or expend upon the Odessa CollegeNOW programs in their school districts.
