Current Projects

• Online Readiness Assessment – SmarterMeasure™ Learning Readiness Indicator (Blackboard building block) ) is available as a tool inside Blackboard, and is currently being used as a diagnostic tool to identify students who are at-risk of not doing well in technology-based courses.


• Faculty Development – a second cohort of 30 faculty have completed a faculty development program designed to assist in best practices for online course development and teaching. They have begun peer evaluation of their courses for online efficacy. A third cohort will begin faculty development in Spring 2013. Participants will learn concepts of social presence, multimedia incorporation and assessment while developing their own courses.


• Course Pilot & Evaluation – EMSP courses developed and piloted in Year 2 are currently being evaluated and modified as needed. Five of the Nursing distance learning courses will be redesigned and piloted during year 3.


• Andrews Business & Technology Center – This Odessa College Center will be the focus of classroom sites and equipment for EMSP and RN programs.
