Old Business

Safety – Connie summarized the incident in SH this fall where people were successfully evacuated but there was no system in place for communicating to everyone that it was safe to return to the building. Robbie Rogers will take this issue to the safety committee.

Flu vaccine update – Robbie reported that of the 175 doses ordered, only 15 remain. There have been inquiries about non – OC (e.g. bookstore employees) and staff/faculty family members getting vaccines. This will be considered for next year.

New Business

Procedures for dealing with students who use OC computers for inappropriate activities. Connie advised of instances of inappropriate use of OC computers. James Jordan suggested having students sign an Acceptable Use Policy and will obtain samples of such a form.

Senators discussed the need for a meeting with Dr. Thallemer for several issues. LeeDon will schedule an executive committee with him to discuss registration and computer use and attendance policy issues.

Cleaning staff. Theresa Evans reported on recent thefts in some buildings that appear to be connected to the cleaning staff. Any missing items should be reported to AL Fonseca or Lionel Loya immediately. There has also been an increase in the incidence of stolen textbooks across campus. Faculty should advise students and constituents.

Discussion of various OC student policies. James Jordan is in the process of putting the Student Manual on – line and senators discussed the need to clarify some policies. Regarding students missing class for an OC sponsored function, Senators agreed that the policy should clarify student responsibility here and it should be given a sponsored function and policy regarding student absences and make up work. The computer use issue may be added as well.

James Jordan made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Therese Evans seconded that motion. The meeting was adjourned at 3:25 pm.
