CLEP & Advanced Standing Testing
CLEP Testing
The College Level Examination
Program (CLEP) tests allow students to acquire college
credit for advanced knowledge in a wide variety of
academic subjects. OC awards credit for
specific courses, up to a limit of 30 semester hours.
Most exams award three hours of credit for a passing
score.
The Testing Center provides
the CLEP exam in every subject offered by CLEP. Students
seeking credit for classes at other institutions
may take the CLEP at OC and specify where their scores
should be sent.
There is a fee for each
CLEP and the Testing Center also charges a $15.00
proctoring fee. Because CLEP fees change from time
to time, please call us at 335-6620 for current fees
and additional information. Students should be prepared
with two forms of payment (one for CLEP and the other
for the Testing Center), a photo ID and a social
security card.

Advanced Standing Exams
An Advanced Standing Examination
is the OC departmental version of the CLEP test.
College credit can be awarded to a student who has
advanced skills or particular expertise in a subject
area. OC will accept up to 30 semester hours of advanced
standing, whether from these exams, the CLEP test
or a combination of the two.
An Advanced Standing Examination
is always arranged through the Chair of the Department
in which a student is seeking credit, though the
exam itself may be proctored in the Testing Center. For
more information, contact the Testing Center at 335-6620,
or the appropriate Department Chair.
