Our Services

  • Tutoring - SSS offers one-on-one tutoring to all of its participants. Our tutors are geared toward the math and science classes that give our students the most trouble here at OC. However, we can tutor for English, computer science, history, and government courses as well. Call or come by the SSS Offices and make an appointment today. Your grades will be glad you did!

  • Learning Activities - Along with our great tutoring services, our Tutors/Learning Specialists are also trained in several different Learning Activities ranging from Filling out your FAFSA to Home Budgeting. Learning Activities are offered in workshop format as well as one-on-one appointments with our Learning Specialists. SSS participants are required to complete a one hour Learning Activity each semester. (Click here for a available topics for the year ).

  • Cultural Activities - SSS also knows the importance of expanding the horizons of students. Since we are interested in the "whole student," we also provide great cultural activities to our participants free of charge! Whether its dinner provided by Great Western Dining and a play at the Globe of the Great Southwest, or a road trip to Texas Tech for a campus visit and a Big XII football game, there is something for participants of all tastes.  One cultural activity is a requirement in order to stay active with SSS. (Click here for a available events for the year ).

  • Advising - The backbone of our program is the intensive one-on-one advising you receive from the SSS Professional Staff. Staff can advise you in several areas including academic, transfer assistance, financial aid, career, and even personal issues. Consider us the one stop shop for all of your College advising needs!

  • Learning & Technology Center (LTC) - Don't have a computer? No problem! Let the LTC, located in the SSS Office Suite, be your own personal desktop. We have fifteen computers at your service, not to mention a flatbed scanner and two printers. The TRIO Staff is always on the ball making sure you have access to all of the software you will ever need during your SSS experience. The LTC is also the place to meet your tutor and learn new computer skills. However, there are some things you shouldn't do in the LTC. Follow this link to the LTC's Acceptable Use Policy.

  • Laptop Lending Program - Can't make it to the LTC?  Stop by the SSS Offices today and check out the exciting new Laptop Lending Program.  We will allow SSS students in good standing to take one of our laptops home with them for up to an entire week!  There are some stipulations, though.  Might be a good idea to follow this link to the Laptop Lending Agreement and check it out.

  • Textbook Lending Program/ Supplies - Books for your classes in college can get extremely expensive, that is why SSS purchases several books strictly for the use of SSS Students.  Students can check with SSS at the beginning of the semester to check out books instead of having to buy them.  There is a limit of two books that each student can borrow per semester.  All textbooks must be turned in before the end of the semester or else a hold will be put on the student's records.  Students may also borrow calculators, tape recorders, USB drives, and  floppy disks if necessary.
