Her lecture was very detailed and informative and presented this serious matter in a very a humorous and attention getting way.

It was mentioned that evaluations are being looked at for possible revision.

Chief of Campus Police Al Fonseca offered a suggestion that there be more notification that the school is closed after 4. Cheri Dalton will get some types of notification including perhaps signs.

Perhaps having a professional conference would benefit the college and OPS. Martha Kunkel would like to help see this take place, Kristi and Norma will assist in this goal.

Cheri Dalton would like to know what your dept would want to do as far as training. It was suggested that we poll the population staff.

It was said that Virginia is putting together an alternative to staff development more specialized for the individual departments.

It was mentioned while talking about email features of email clients that Outlook for the PC and Entourage for the Apple have features such as a an excellent email system and scheduler even in it stand alone form it has many more than outlook express. Outlook is part of the Office 2003 Suite.

Cheri Dalton mention that while talking about charging for catalogs - this was confusing - no more charge, however the catalogs were not going to be distributed as freely as they once had before OC started charging for them. The catalogs would be available at the Bookstore, the counseling center, media relations. Perhaps we could use them for certain purposes. Just don’t throw them at everyone. ask some questions, make sure they "need it" perhaps direct them to the web site - Clarify if they don't have access to the web site then it would be ok . It was pointed out that this had been okayed through Dr. Thallemer and would be confirmed with Virginia Chisum and Dr. Gipson. New students get one free, but not returning students. It was asked if it can be put on CD, but the cost is about the same and the CD usually ends up as a Frisbee. It is at the website in PDF format at http://www.odessa.edu/catalog/current_catalog/index.htm

Penny Boss asked that we all mark our calendars for the Staff vs. Student Basketball event being held on Nov 10th at 7pm Wed.
