Carmen Edwards MSN, RN It is a joy to be at OC. Serving as the Associate Dean of the Nursing Education Division and Director of the Associate Degree Nursing Program is challenging, exciting, and rewarding. I have been a nurse for over 30 years. I got my start right here at OC. I have always been grateful for the solid foundation in nursing practice that I received through this curriculum. My home is in Midland but my heart is here at OC. I am married to a wonderful man who works in the racing industry. If you go to the Petroleum Museum and visit the Chaparral Racing Exhibit, you will see his picture because he was involved in the restoration of the most famous race cars in the world. Our daughter and son-in-law blessed us with the birth of our first grandchild, Oliver, in November 2004. I enjoy cooking and reading, and, of course, playing with Oliver. My nursing career has been rich and rewarding. Nursing provided the opportunity for me to work in hospitals, home-health care, residential care for individuals with developmental disabilities, occupational health care, and congregational care as a parish nurse. A passion for nursing education motivated me to teach in community colleges for several years. As a nurse educator, my greatest joy is knowing that graduates of the program make a difference, not only in the lives of their patients, but also in their own families.
