Welcome
to Calculus II! This sheet will tell you about the course, including subject
matter, homework, tests, and grading. Almost all of your questions should be
answered by reading this sheet. If anything is unclear, please get in touch
with me as soon as possible and I will try to answer all your questions. Good
luck with the course and please don't hesitate to e-mail or call if you need
more information.
REQUIRED MATERIALS
Textbook: Calculus by Larson, Hostetler,
& Edwards, 9th Edition
Supplies:
Pencil, paper, scientific calculator (no cell phones, no graphing calculators)
SUBJECT MATTER
Chapters
7 – 10 in the text will be covered.
ATTENDANCE
Although
attendance is not factored into your term grade, attendance will be taken at
the beginning of each class period. You should not expect to do well in the
class without attending every class.
HOMEWORK
Homework
problems will be assigned each class period, but will not usually be taken up
for a grade. YOU SHOULD NOT EXPECT TO BE ABLE TO PASS THE CLASS WITHOUT DOING
ALL OF THE HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS! Homework assignments will be posted on the
website. It is your responsibility to get the assignment if you are absent.
QUIZZES
Quizzes
will be given throughout the semester. NO MAKE-UP QUIZZES WILL BE GIVEN. There
will be a small curve on the quiz average.
TESTS
There
will be 3 or 4 tests and a comprehensive final exam. The lowest test grade will
be replaced by the grade you make on the final exam if it is higher. NO MAKE-UP
TESTS WILL BE GIVEN. You MUST take
the final exam. Test dates will be announced in class several days prior to the
test.

IMPORTANT DATES
Final: Tuesday, May 14, 11 am – 1:30 pm
Conduct
All
students will be expected to abide by the Odessa College Code of Classroom
Etiquette. If you fail to abide by
these rules, you will be asked to leave the classroom or be removed completely
from the class. A further list of class rules can be found on the class
website. This is titled Student Responsibilities. Your signature on this page
will be your first quiz grade in the class, so you will need to go to our
website at http://www.odessa.edu/dept/math/mstreet/home.htm and print out this
page.
Cheating
Cheating
is not tolerated in this class. The first time you are caught cheating, you will receive a 0 for that assignment. The second time
you are caught cheating, you will be removed from the class permanently and
receive an F for the course. If you are caught allowing someone to cheat from
your work, the same punishment applies as that of the cheater.
