If you have not read the SYLLABUS, do so now.

 


You must purchase an access code for My Math Lab. The code may be purchased online with a credit card or at the bookstore.  You do not have to purchase the textbook. 

If you are repeating this course, you may not have to purchase a new access code. Instead of following the registration instructions below, log in to My Math Lab just like you did last time you took the course. Click on enroll in a new class and follow the instructions given. You will still need the course ID given below. Email me if you have questions about this.


 

Instructions for Computer Software:

 

What do you need to register for access to My Math Lab?

 

1.     A Course ID given to you by your instructor. The ID for the Fall semester of 2008 is: street02108

2.     A student access code:  found in your book or software package or purchased online.  Example:  smple-frill-tonle-weirs-choir-flees

3.     Your OC student email address. When you send me email, please put the course (MATH 1314.WB) and your full name in the subject line. If you are replying to an email from me add your name at the end of the subject line. Also, put your full name at the end of each message.

 

To Register:

 

  1. Start at http://www.students.pearsoned.com
  2. Choose register
  3. Enter your six-word student access code and choose next (or buy your access code online)
  4. Enter your course ID given to you by the instructor and choose next
  5. Follow rest of the steps to set up your own personal log-in name and password

 

To Start the Program:

 

  1. Return to http://www.students.pearsoned.com
  2. Choose Login
  3. Click on your course in the orange box
  4. The first time you enter the site click on the software installation wizard. The wizard will walk you through the installation of the software you will need to view multimedia content.

 

If you have trouble and need to contact technical support, the number is 1-800-677-6337.

 

The next time you access the software you will only have to put in your Login and Password.

 


 

Instructions for Completing Course Assignments and Tests:

 

  1. Go to http://www.students.pearsoned.com and log in.

 

  1. Tutorials: Lecture and Practice (NOT GRADED)

a.     Click on Chapter Contents

b.     Click on the Chapter (start with Chapter 1)

c.     Click on the Section

d.     Click on the Video Lecture (Watch and take notes)

e.     Click on the tracked Tutorials (These are not graded and do not count as part of your homework assignments. Do as many problems as you need in order to be able to do the graded homework.)

 

NOTE: It is also possible to access the tutorials by clicking on the Study Plan button and choosing the appropriate chapter and section from the drop down menu.

 

 

  1. Graded Homework (15% of your course grade):

a.     Click on Do Homework

b.     Click on the section you want to work on. (Start with 1.1)

c.     Do the homework. When you finish a problem click the next button.

d.     When you finish the assignment click on the Hand in Homework button.

e.     Continue as above for the rest of the sections in the chapter.

f.      You must do the homework assignments in order. You will not be able to access homework 1.2 until you have completed homework 1.1.

 

  1. Tests (50% of your course grade):

a.     Finish all the homework for the chapter. You will not be able to access a chapter test until you have finished all the homework for that chapter.

b.     Log in to My Math Lab at www.students.pearsoned.com

c.     Click on Take a Test

d.     Follow the instructions given.

 

  1. Final Exam (35% of your course grade) You must take the final exam to receive credit for the course.

a.     After you have finished all the Graded Homework and Tests, you are ready to take the Final Exam.

b.     Instructions for taking the final will be available in the announcements section of My Math Lab.

 

NOTE: The Final Exam is proctored and must be taken in ET 120. If you do not take the Final Exam, you will receive an F for the course.
