Community Leadership Meetings Instructions

Ten percent of your grade for Management Department classes is based on your attendance at a minimum of 4 community leadership meetings each semester.  We believe that being aware and involved in your community is important for you as an individual and as an employee -  and certainly as a business owner now and in the future.  Below, you will find links for a variety of opportunities to attend approved community meetings.  If you have questions regarding this requirement please contract Connie Nichols or Sue Jones at the beginning of the semester to ensure that you can complete this requirement.  To receive full credit you should plan to attend at least one meeting per month.

Approved Community Meetings
 

Odessa College Board Meetings  - the Board meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month, 7 p.m.  Exceptions: No meetings in June & November. The December meeting is held on the 1st Thursday, 6:30 p.m.  Meetings are held on the Odessa College Campus - contact Gene Agnew for location - 335-6411.

Other meeting options may be counted; however, advanced approval by instructor is required.

Verification of Meeting Attendance

1.  Download the Attendance Verification Form (AVF)  - Form

2.  Attend the meeting of your choice.  In order to get the necessary signature for the AVF, you should

• Arrive early and locate the people in charge

• Introduce yourself and explain why your are attending this meeting

  • for example "As part of the requirements for my college management class I am attending this meeting.  Would you please sign this form verifying my attendance."

• Dress appropriately

• Turn off your cell phone

  • Good etiquette and professionalism is EXPECTED

•  Listen carefully and be prepared to discuss your opinion of what happened during the meeting

  • You might want to take notes and keep them for future reference.

  • This will be part of the final exam and possibly relate to other course work.

3.  Return an AVF to either Sue Jones or Connie Nichols within 1 week of your attendance at the meeting.

• Scan the completed form and email it or

• Bring the original to the instructor's office and

• Keep a copy for your records
