Due Date:  Monday, September 24, 2012

Assignment: Brochure About ME

Supplies: Markers, one sheet of brochure paper, one paper clip

Instructions: 1. Decorate the front panel of the brochure with your name in any manner you choose. On the inside of the brochure, answer each of the following questions about yourself. No one else will see these answers, so you are free to write anything as long as it is positive.

  1. List at least five of your strengths, for example, persistence, courage, friendliness, creativity, etc.
  2. List five things you admire about yourself, for example the way you have raised our children, your good relationship with your brother, your spirituality, etc.
  3. List the five greatest achievements in your life so far, like recovering from a serious illness, graduating from high school, learning to use a computer, etc.
  4. What is your best feature?
  5. What is your favorite activity?
  6. What is something you are good at?
  7. What was your proudest moment?
  8. What do you do to make yourself laugh?
  9. What do you do to help someone else?
  10. What do you do to "reward" yourself?

When you are finished fold up your brochure and paperclip it shut.

3. Pass your brochure to the person on your right. When you receive a brochure, you are to notice who it belongs to and turn it over (never opening it) and write a comment about them on the back. The comment can be anonymous or you can sign your name. The brochures should be passed all around the class until everyone has commented on everyone else’s brochure and everyone has their own brochure back.

4. Discussion Questions:

  1. What was it like to read things others had written about you?
  2. Was anyone surprised?
  3. Was it easy or hard to compliment others?
  4. Was it easy or hard to receive compliments?
