Computer Access
The LRC has computer workstations available for student, staff and faculty use on 2nd floor of the LRC. Please NOTE: The LRC computers are available for research. We also have a Bibliographic Instruction Lab/Faculty Reserve Lab which is available for classes. All word processing and use of other programs must be done in the Computer Lab located on 3rd floor (432/335-6878).
LRC Computer Use Policy
- Computer workstations are provided for academic use for the students, staff and faculty of Odessa College in accordance with college policy.
- Computer use is primarily intended for the support of course work conducted for a particular class assignment. First priority is access to FirstSearch and TexShare databases over Internet searching. Students using computers for non-class related activities will be required to relinquish their workstation when students with class related assignments are waiting.
- Users are limited to 30 minutes.
- Chat rooms, game playing, or using these workstations for personal profit is prohibited.
- Please respect the copyright status of the information found on the Internet. The copyright law of the United States (Title 17 U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. The person using this equipment is liable for any infringement.
- Resources available on the Internet may be potentially offensive. Users must respect the rights of others. For example, displaying on-screen images, sounds, or messages that create an atmosphere of discomfort or harassment for others is prohibited.
- Technical difficulties will occur. The college is not responsible for any information that may be lost, damaged, or unavailable due to technical or other difficulties.
- Word processing is available ONLY in the computer labs on 3rd floor and open Internet searching is also available in the 3rd floor computer labs.
