Common Style Manuals

The OWL at Purdue -
This is Purdue University's Online Writing Lab (OWL). This Web site offers many online resources (including MLA and APA guides) to assist users with their writing projects.

Selection of Different Style Manuals - This Web site created by Concordia University offers links to the American Psychological Association (APA) Style Guide, Modern Languages Association (MLA) Style Guide, Turabian Style Guide, Chicago Manual of Style, and other sources.

Sources - created by Dartmouth College is a guide to creating citations with numerous examples in the four most-used citation styles.

Electronic Reference Formats - Electronic formats recommended by the American Psychological Association.

Psychology with Style -  APA hypertext guide to writing research reports for students and instructors of experimental and research methods courses. Summarizes the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (4th edition).

MLA Style

The OWL at Purdue - MLA Formatting and Style Guide - Online guide that gives citation information according to the MLA Style Manual and Guide to Scholarly Publishing 2nd ed. and the MLA Handbook for Writiers of Research Papers 6th ed.

Other Styles

Chicago Style - Works Cited, or References.   Includes examples of citing books, articles, encyclopedia entries, dissertations, reprints, government documents, papers presented at conferences, performances, videocassette recordings, interviews, and secondary sources in  Chicago style. 

Style for Social Science Term Papers - Turabian.   McGill University created a guide based on the citation style for the 6th edition of Kate Turabian's A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 1996).
