Launching into the 21st Century
The Odessa College Foundation Incorporated, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was chartered in 1996 operating under the Texas Non-Profit Corporation Act.
The Mission of the Foundation is three-fold: 1) to secure donations for scholarship assistance through the Annual Campaign and Leave-A-Legacy Campaign, 2) to secure donations to the College that foster the continuation and development of projects and training programs, 3) to unify the community in promoting philanthropy for Higher Education at Odessa College. The Endowment of the Foundation has steadily increased and the interest from this endowment is used for program enhancement and for scholarship assistance that will help students attain their Certifications and Associate Degrees.
The Foundation is an excellent avenue for Philanthropists to express their interest in the future of Odessa College. The Foundation was created to be the avenue by which the College could receive monetary donations, real estate donations, stock & security gifts, as well as becoming a beneficiary in a donor’s will, trust, or life insurance policies. There are many Creative Ways of Giving that are mutually beneficial to the donor in the form of an immediate income or tax deduction.
Join in the Foundation’s effort in securing the future success of Odessa College. Many of our donors are Former Students who began their higher education pursuit at Odessa College and hold those invaluable memories very dear. Our more recent donors are those who lived in Odessa and moved away but they keep in touch through the news about Odessans. We also have community donors who assist in our fund-raising efforts and we appreciate their vision of not only keeping OC as a vibrant and productive college but also of continuing to improve this community. We have been extremely surprised and grateful to receive calls confirming details from donors desiring to establish Odessa College as a beneficiary in their wills and trusts. We thank all of you who are philanthropists at heart and who are helping Odessa College launch OC into the 21st Century!”
Foundation Campaigns
LEAVE-A-LEGACY · Endowment Endeavors
Leave-A-Legacy is the Foundation’s Endowment drive. All donations are entered into the existing Endowment investment portfolio for growth purposes. At present, the spending policy is 5% of the portfolio value.
The Leave-A-Legacy campaign drive was kicked-off in conjunction with the third Anniversary of the Foundation and the opening of the 42 year old Time Capsule in 2000. This drive is the Foundation’s long-term effort to secure endowment funds that will generate a spending level to offer scholarship assistance to every high school graduate in Ector County. Donations are made to the Odessa College Foundation 501(c)(3) as a charitable tax deduction.
DOLLARS-For-SCHOLARS · Non-Endowed Annual Drive
Dollars-for-Scholars is the non-endowed Annual Fund. The goal of the Annual Campaign is to provide financial assistance to high school graduates and to students who are ineligible by government standards to receive state or federal financial aide. Scholarship awards are determined by the scholarship committee and distributed annually.
A great Community of Individuals and Philanthropists and the collaborative efforts of Businesses, Companies, Corporations, and Foundations have been the force that has propelled the momentum of this scholarship endeavor.
Since 1999, $1,000,000 has been secured and awarded to more than 3,000 students. The scholars have demonstrated their appreciation by performing over 7,400 hours of Community Service through agencies throughout the Permian Basin. Donations are made to the Odessa College Foundation 501(c)(3) as a charitable tax deduction.
MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND · Memorials
Foundation Memorial Scholarship Funds or Endowments are established to assist donors who want to make donations in memory of family and friends or in memory of OC employees. Funds are specifically named for honorees. Donations are made to the Odessa College Foundation 501(c)(3) as a charitable tax deduction.
