A nonprofit organization that examines the death penalty. Contains state-by-state analysis, including the number of executions, and issues concerning the death penalty.

The official Web site of the Environmental Protection Agency.  Provides information on their functions, responsibilities, and actions. 

*Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)

A bipartisan, independent government agency established by the 1964 Civil Rights Act to end job discrimination and to investigate complaints alleging job discrimination.  The EEOC may issue a Notice of Right to Sue in employment discrimination cases and may recommend action by the U.S. Attorney General.

The official Web site of the FBI.  Offers crime reports, history of the FBI, and information about job opportunities.

-The Federal Election Commission

The federal agency responsible for the interpretation and enforcement of federal election laws.  Its functions include audits, investigations, subpoena of witnesses and information, injunctions, and referral of cases to the Justice Department for criminal prosecution.  One of its most important functions is its publication of expenditure reports by candidates and political action committees (PACs) which are available for public scrutiny.

A nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that promotes government and corporate accountability and assists whistle-blowers.  Offers advice and referrals for whistle-blowers. Also does its own research on government programs and offices.  Reports of its investigations are available on the Web site.

-History Central

Presents a timeline of major world history events and provides related websites for US presidential elections, state-by-state tallies and graphs of electoral and popular vote. It also inclues biographies of all American presidents and first ladies.

This is the Web site for the Human Rights Campaign Fund, the nation's largest gay and lesbian political organization.

 -Human Rights Watch

This organization is dedicated to protecting human rights around the world.  In the United States, they are working to end the permanent disenfranchisement (loss of the right to vote) of felons.

*Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS)

The INS, a division of the Department of Justice, oversees immigration to the United States.  The INS also regulates permanent and temporary immigration to the United States.  The INS also oversees the Border Patrol, which covers more than 8,000 miles of international boundaries.

A conglomerate of political news and information. This site allows the visitor to find the political party closest to their views and the political philosophy nearest their beliefs. There is much additional information provided also.

*The Sentencing Project

A nonprofit organization focusing on the problems in the U.S. prison system.  Offers fact sheets and policy reports about the penal system.

The oldest environmental group.

* Social Security Administration

Official Web site of the Social Security Administration. Contains useful information related to Social Security, including the most recent Trustees' reports.

*Southern Poverty Law Center

This organization monitors the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacist, racist, and hate groups and brings action against the perpetrators of  hate crimes in court.

A website of the constitution of the state of Texas.
