Odessa College offers paramedical education and training at several different levels.

Emergency Medical Technician – Basic
The EMT-B is trained to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients. This individual will perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance.

Emergency Medical Technician – Intermediate link to Application Process
The EMT-I is trained to provide basic and limited advanced emergency care and transportation for critical and emergent patients. This individual will perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance.

Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic link to Application Process
The Paramedic is and allied health professional whose primary focus is to provide advanced emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients. Paramedics perform the interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance.

Associate in Applied Science Degree link to Application Process
The associate in applied science degree will be awarded to students who complete the prescribed degree plan in the Emergency Medical Services Professional studies area. The A.A.S. degree is designed to provide the student with comprehensive skills and knowledge in the Emergency Medical Services field, with the goal of employment in the pre-hospital emergency service or related field.

Each course curriculum combines lecture, and clinical, laboratory, and ambulance experience, united with critical thinking skills, to ready the student to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician certification exam.
