The EMSP department will not accept any incomplete
applications.
All applicants seeking acceptance into
the EMSP program must meet and adhere to the following

- All new and transfer students must complete the OC
admissions application and gain acceptance
to the college before applying to the program.
- All applicants must have completed or be able to
complete all
required
vaccinations within the allotted time periods.
- All applicants must pass a
Criminal Background Check.
- All applicants must pass a Urine Drug Screen.
- All applicants must adhere to the Odessa College EMSP uniform policy.
- All applicants will be required to obtain an AHA
BLS for Healthcare Providers "CPR" card.
- All applicants must maintain health Insurance during all clinical
activities.
- All applicants must pass a
participation physical
and be able to perform all tasks listed in the
TDSHS functional Job
description.
- All applicants must be accepted into the EMSP
Program before they are allowed to register for any
EMSP courses.
Applying to the program
- All applicants should print and read the
EMSP Application Instruction
Letter prior to applying for the program.
- All applicants must complete the EMSP Program Application at the
Emergency Medical Services Professional office or at
one of the Odessa College extension centers.
Bring copies of all immunizations records,
certifications, and other documents.

Program Specific Requirements
Emergency Medical
Technician (EMT)
- All applicants must be at least 17 years of age
( student cannot achieve actual
certification until the age of 18 )
Paramedic
(Level 1 Certificate)
- All applicants must be currently certified as a
Texas EMT-B or higher
- All applicants must be able to complete the Level 1 Certificate
Program with a 2.0 cumulative GPA
AAS Emergency Medical Services Professional
- All applicants must be able to complete the AAS Program with a 2.0
cumulative GPA
PLEASE NOTE:
Application to the Odessa College Emergency
Medical Services Professional program is
competitive.
Applications will be accepted at any time during the
year. However, if the application is more than 90 days
old before the desired program entry date, student must
contact the EMS department and update all relevant
information. All active applications on file will be
reviewed and letters of acceptance will be sent out
approximately 30 days prior to the beginning of class.
All documentation
necessary for program admission must be submitted to the
EMSP Department before an applicant can be accepted.
