Odessa College's Culinary Arts Program provides training and hands-on-skills for professional positions in the fast growing food service industry.

Career opportunities await you in catering, private clubs and resorts, restaurants, hotels, institutional and medical food services and national chains. Chefs in restaurants earn from $24,000-$53,000 a year and those working in hotels can earn up to $64,000 annually.

Train with professionals...

In Odessa College's Culinary Arts Program, you'll train under instructors who are certified chefs and learn basic and advanced principles of food preparation and baking, with additional emphasis on managerial and supervisory skills and practices.

Learn while you earn...

All the students enrolled in the Culinary Arts Programs work in the industry on part-time or full-time basis while enrolled in the program.

The Culinary Arts Department works with each student to develop a learning package that meets his or her needs. Helping with employment objectives, the department will also document skills learned for entry into the food service industry and advancement within the industry.

Options...

ASSOCIATE IN APPLIED SCIENCE DEGREE IN CULINARY ARTS OR A FOOD SERVICE MANAGEMENT OPTION

  • Combines food preparation and management courses to become food service supervisors and managers.
  • Requires two academic years and one summer.
  • Combines academic courses hands-on-skills.

ONE YEAR CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

  • Focuses on training for cooks and food production positions.
  • Can be completed in 10 months.
  • Designed for those individuals not interested in two years of formal training.
