I am a graduate of the very 1st Odessa College Law Enforcement Academy (OCLEA) in 1983. It changed my life. I wanted to become a police officer, but at that time it was very difficult. The only academy available was the Permian Basin regional academy. To attend there you had to be hired or sponsored by a police department. It was a catch 22 situation. Odessa College changed all that. When I graduated, I was hired by the Odessa Police Department where I have had a very succesful career. I have commanded the SWAT Team, the hostage negotiation team called CIU, and been able to attend the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Less than 1% of law enforcement nationwide is able to attend this training, but thanks to OC and the Odessa Police Department I was able to attend. OC and the OCLEA definitely changed my life for the better.

Loving County Sheriff's Ofc.
I graduated Odessa College's Law Enforcement Academy Class #77 in February 2005. A month later I was hired by the Loving County Sheriff's Office as a full time Deputy Sheriff. The knowledge and instruction from Odessa College staff and instructors has proven to be invaluable in my career.
