Commitment to Providing Equal Opportunity:

Odessa College affirms that it will provide access to programs, services and activities to qualified individuals with know disabilities as required by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), unless doing so poses an undue hardship or fundamentally alters the nature of the program or activity.

What is a disability?

Disabilities may include hearing, mobility or visual Impairments as well as hidden disabilities such as chronic medical conditions (arthritis, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disorders, lupus, seizure disorders, etc.) learning disabilities or psychiatric or emotional disabilities.

What Can We Do to Help?

  • Provide administrative and academic advocacy and counseling
  • Notify faculty about your requested accommodations
  • Help locate specialized aids and equipment: tape recorders,
    wheelchairs, large print books and the like.
  • Arrange informal gatherings with other OC students with similar disabilities at the request of the student.
  • Share resources from a collection of periodicals, books, articles and videos on disability-related topics.

If you wish to apply for an accommodation, you will be required to furnish the following documentation:

  • Request for Accommodations form, Exchange of Information form for Odessa College, Current or anticipated class schedule, Diagnostic findings of disability condition by a treatment professional who possesses recognized professional standing, including diagnostic code, level of severity, and assessment of functional impact on the student's proposed educational activities at Odessa College. Such diagnostic findings must be current within the last 3 years. Also accommodations recommended by treatment professional need to be included.
  • Current contact information for the student requesting accommodations
