Making
the decision to start college is a big step. But once you've made
that decision, you will start the process of actually beginning
school. The
first step is to go through the Admissions process.
Admissions at Odessa College is simple and painless.
Applications for Admission to the college are available from the
Admissions Office and are also bound into the inside back cover
of the Odessa College Bulletin, also known as the Catalog.
You'll
be asked to provide information about your residency status and
about other schools you've attended. Admissions will require
an
official copy of transcripts - high school if you're a first-time
student, college transcripts if you're transferring to Odessa
College,
or an official copy of your GED scores. That's all! No
application fee, no SAT or ACT score, no application essays. We
simply don't require them. A focus of the Odessa College philosophy
is providing an opportunity for anyone to pursue college studies.
Making choices about classes to take is often the next step. An
appointment with an OC counselor, or a visit to the Chairperson
of your major department, can be arranged. Department chairs'
office
phone numbers and locations are printed in the Schedule of Classes
each semester. Most likely, you'll be required by Texas law
to take
either the THEA or the COMPASS test BEFORE you may register, or
enroll in, classes. Registration periods are scheduled throughout
the year, before the beginning of each semester.
New student registration is designed to make this transition easier
for first-time and transfer students. Once you have completed
new student registration, you will know more about Odessa
College and be
registered for classes. Contact the Counseling Center office at
335-6433 for more information.
