Adult Basic Education English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
General Education Development Clases para aprender el inglès

Providing educational opportunities for adults who have not completed secondary education and for adults who need to learn the English language.

To be eligible, students must be beyond compulsory school age and officially withdrawn from public school. Classes are held in the Continuing Education Annex CEAB and CEAC located at University and Robertson across from the main OC entrance. ABE, ESOL and GED classes may also be held off campus at other locations. Contact the Adult Basic Education office at (432) 335-6380 for additional information.

Adult Basic Education (ABE)
The Odessa College Adult Basic Education Program provides instruction in basic reading, writing, math and life coping skills for adults below a ninth grade education level. Instruction is individualized to allow students to work at their own level. Computer assisted instruction and academic counseling are available. Students also have access to the Internet. Upon successful completion of the curriculum the students are ready for the GED preparation classes.

General Education Development (GED)
The GED program provides an opportunity to learn the skills necessary for survival in today's workplace and in their personal lives as well as preparing them for the GED tests. Computer assisted instruction and academic counseling are available, and students also have access to the Internet. After passing the GED tests, the student receives a High School Equivalency certificate from the Texas Education Agency.

To schedule the Pre-Test for the GED, call the ABE office at 432/335-6380 for testing schedules.
To schedule the Official GED tests, call the Testing Center at 432/335-6620.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
English language instruction is offered for the student whose first language is not English. Instruction includes conversation, reading and writing skills. An interactive ESOL computer lab and audio and video materials supplement the classroom instruction.

Clases para aprender el inglès
Las clases incluyen instrucción para aprender a leer, a escribir y a conversar en el inglés. Además hay computadoras con programas especiales para ampliar el aprendizaje del inglés y prácticas adicionales con audio casetes y videos para mejorar la pronunciación y comprensión. Los estudiantes tienen acceso al Internet.
