YAHOOOOOOO!!!!! You are
nearing the end. I am going to reopen all of the tests so that in case you
missed one you will have an opportunity to make it up! Your final exam is
scheduled for Monday May 1st through Friday May 5th at the Testing Center here
at OC. Please don't forget!!!!!!! Good Luck.....if you have any

IMPORTANT!!!!!!
In case you have missed a test, I
will be reopening all of the tests (medterm test 1- medterm test 7) the week of
April 23rd. The tests will be open beginning 8am on Monday April 24th and
will close at midnight on Friday April 28th. If you missed an exam, this
will be your ONLY opportunity to make it up, and I WILL NOT reset them. I
hope this will help you out with your grades or at least as another chance to go
over material before your final exam. Don't forget that your final exam is
scheduled the week before your other finals. It will be available in the
Testing Center beginning Monday May 1st through Friday May 5th.

Hi!!!!!
I wanted you to know that I am aware that test 4
has some questions that are being misgraded by Blackboard.....I plan to recheck
each student's test over the break to ensure that you have an accurate and
correct test score!!!!

Hello!!!!!
I'm sorry that I have not
corresponded with you in the last couple of weeks...there's no excuse, except
that I've been covered up at home and at school, but then, of course, I know
that ALL of you know what that is like.
Just a reminder that med term
test 3 is due by midnight on Sunday. Continue to email me if you have
questions on your grading....I'm more than delighted to check over your exams,
and I usually do anyway, even if you haven't emailed and asked me to.

Hello!!!!!!
Well, week one is in the
books....I hope your semester is going well.
I have a few things to tell you:
1. When you send me an
email, please be sure to include your name....I do not know all of
you by your email addresses.
2. When you take your test
on Blackboard, you will notice that the grading is picky. If you do not
type in an answer exactly the way that I did, then Blackboard will count it
wrong, even though it might still be correct. If you feel as though this
happened on your test....email me and I'll be DELIGHTED to review
your answers and give you credit if possible. : )
3. I will be posting some
information on study techniques for the different learning styles next week......please be sure to read this
information. For now, here is some information on characteristics of

4. Since you all are telling
me about you in your "who am I" assignments...I will do the same:
I am Kristie Deramus, Chair of the
Biology Department. I was born on February 13th in New Orleans, Louisiana.
My family moved to Midland when I was in the fourth grade and I have been there
ever since. I graduated Lee High School in '92, and earned my BS. and MS.
in Biology from UTPB. I came to OC as and adjunct in '97 and became full
time in '98.
I am married to Boyd, my high
school sweetheart, and we have a beautiful and energetic daughter named Emily.
Emmie is incredibly smart and witty, like her momma : ), and amazes me everyday.
She and her father are the lights of my life.
Besides entertainment provided by
Emmie, I enjoy reading (especially Robin Cook and Mary Higgins Clark), working
in the yard, going to the movies, and going to the lake. I love to
water-ski and really enjoy riding our SeaDoos. I'm hoping Emmie will have
a lot of fun on the SeaDoos this summer.
I have a Schnauzer named Shank,
and a tabby cat named Sabrina. I have two younger brothers Tom and Drew,
who both live in Austin. And I have two nephews, Beau and Ben from my
husband's side.
My favorite color is pink, I love
chocolate, and my favorite movie is GREASE, at least it was for a long
time....now it seems like the only thing I get to watch is Dora the Explorer or
The Backyardigans. Embarrassingly, I will admit that I watch Days of Our
Lives and reality TV.
That's me in a nutshell.

You should plan to visit this page at least once a week or more. Should
we encounter any problems with e-mail, change of due dates, additional assignments, or anything else, this page will
keep you posted. I also may find websites that I would like you to visit for questions on the test. This will be the way
I communicate this information to you.
