Intenet Explorer (IE) for PC
Under the View menu, check to be
sure there is a check beside Status Bar;
if not select Status Bar
Under the Tools menu select Internet
Options...
- Click the Security tab
- In the Select a Web content zone
to specify its security settings section
- Click the Internet icon
- In the Security level for this
zone section, click the Default
Level button
- Use the slider to set the Security
Level to Medium or Medium-low
- Click the Custom Level...
button
- Scroll down to the Scripting section
- Under Active scripting,
click the radio button beside Enable
- Under Scripting of Java
applets, click the radio
button beside Enable
- Click the OK button
in the Security Settings window
- Click the Trusted Sites icon
- In the Security level
for this zone section,
use the slider to set the Security
Level to Low
- Click the Sites...
button
- Type odessa.edu in
the text box below Add this
Web site to the zone
- Click the Add button
- Click the OK button
in the Trusted Sites window
- Click the Privacy tab
- In the Settings section
- Click the Sites...
button
- Click the Remove All button
- Type odessa.edu in the
text box below Address of Web site
- Click the Allow button
- Click OK in the Per
Site Privacy Actions window
- In the Pop-up Blocker section
- If the check box beside Block
pop-ups is selected do the
following steps
- Click the Settings...
button
- In the Exceptions section
- Type odessa.edu in
the text box below Address
of Web site to allow
- Click the Add button
- In the Notifications and Filter
Level section
- Click to check the boxes
beside Play a sound
when a pop-up is blocked and Show
Information Bar when a pop-up
in blocked
- Under Filter Level select Medium:
Block most automatic pop-ups
- Click the Close button
in the Pop-up Blocker Settings window
- Click the Advanced tab
- In the Browsing section, click
to check the boxes beside Disable Script
Debugging (Internet Explorer) and Disable
Script Debugging (Other)
- In the Java (Sun) section,
click to check the box beside Use JRE
1.5.0_06 for <applet> (requires restart)
- In the Multimedia section,
click to check the boxes beside Play
animations in web pages, Play
sounds in web pages, and Play
videos in web pages
- Click the Apply button
- Click the OK button in the Internet
Options window
Firefox for PC
Under the Tools menu select Options...
- Click the Privacy icon on the
left
- In the Cookies section
- Click the Clear button
on the right
- Click the + symbol beside Cookies to
display further options
- Click to check the boxes beside Allow
sites to set cookies and for
the originating web site only
- Click the Exceptions button
- Type odessa.edu in
the text box below Address
of web site
- Click the Allow button
- Click the OK button
in the Exceptions window
- Beside Keep Cookies select until
they expire
- Click the Web Features icon on
the left
- If the box beside Block Popup Windows is
selected do the following steps
- Click the Allowed Sites button
- Type odessa.edu in the
text box below Address of web site
- Click the Allow button
- Click the OK button
in the Allowed Sites window
- Click to check the boxes beside Load
Images, Enable Java,and Enable
JavaScript
- Click the Advanced... button
- In the Allow scripts to: list
- Check to be sure the box beside Hide
the status bar is NOT selected
- Click to check the box beside Change
status bar text
- Click the OK button in
the Advanced JavaScript Options window
- Click the OK button in the Options window
Firefox for Mac
Under the Firefox menu select Preferences...
- Click the Privacy icon at the
top
- Click the Cookies tab
- Click the Clear Cookies Now button
on the bottom right
- Click to check the box beside Allow
sites to set Cookies
- Click the Exceptions button
- Click the Remove All
Sites button
- Type odessa.edu in
the text box below Address
of web site
- Click the Allow button
- Click the X on the
top left corner to close the Exception
- Cookies window
- Click to check the box beside for
the originating site only
- Beside Keep Cookies select until
they expire
- Click the Cache tab
- Click the Clear Cache Now button
on the bottom right
- Click the Content icon at the
top
- If the box beside Block Popup Windows is
checked do the following steps:
- Click the Allowed Sites button
- Type odessa .edu in
the text box below Address
of web site
- Click the Allow button
- Click the X on
the top left corner to close the Allowed
Sites - Popups window
- Click to check the boxes beside Load
Images, Enable Java,
and Enable JavaScript
- Click the Advanced... button
- In the Allow scripts to: list
- Check to be sure the box beside Hide
the status bar is NOT selected
- Click to check the box beside Change
status bar text
- Click the OK button
- Click the X on the top left corner
to close the Preferences window
Safari for Mac
Under the Safari menu select Preferences...
- Click the General icon at the
top
- Click to check the box beside Open "safe" files
after downloading
- Click the Security icon at the
top
- In the Web Content section,
click to check the boxes beside Enable
plug-ins, Enable Java,
and Enable JavaScript
- In the Accept Cookies section,
click the radio button beside Only from
sites you navigate to
- Click the Show Cookies button
- Click the Remove All button
- Click the Remove All button
in the warning box
- Click the Done button
- Click the X on the top left corner to close the Preferences window
Under the View menu select Show
